If you attended Kohala High and Elementary School between 1966 and 1982, you’re probably familiar with its popular band program, led by the late Billie D. Brooks.

If you attended Kohala High and Elementary School between 1966 and 1982, you’re probably familiar with its popular band program, led by the late Billie D. Brooks.

In conjunction with this year’s Kohala Community Reunion, former band members are planning a separate reunion and potluck from noon-4 p.m. July 4 at the Hawi Jodo Mission Hall.

Members are collecting memories and photos of the band for a memory book. If you have any items you’d like to share, please do so by April 30. The reunion is for band members, majorettes, chaperones, managers, those who performed in school plays and all Billie D. Brooks fans.

The reunion also is a tribute to the late Cheryl (Matsuda) Torrison, who originated the event.

If you are interested in attending, contact: Sharon Sakai (ssakai002@hawaii.rr.com), Rae Hanashiro (ryhanashiro@gmail.com), Judy (Follosco) Joyner (jfjoyner@ec.rr.com), or Buni (Brooks) Nakamura (bbrooks2200@yahoo.com).
